Our Mission

The Sudbury Education Resource Fund, Inc. (SERF) is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to enriching, enhancing and supporting Sudbury’s public schools, from kindergarten through High School. Like many of the 350 Local Education Funds operating nationwide, SERF was established by community and school representatives to expand the resources of the schools in the midst of mounting fiscal pressures. They hoped to increase parent and community involvement in the schools and to unite the Town around local education issues. Since its establishment in 1991, SERF has played a critical role by providing supplementary grants to the schools augmenting classroom learning opportunities, expanding the curriculum and promoting professional development. The Sudbury Education Resource Fund does not provide operating funds.

SERF is run by an elected Board of Directors who represent the diverse interests and resources of the community. The Board is responsible for all fund-raising activity and for fiscal management of the organization. Funds are raised through donations from individuals and businesses as well as a variety of community gatherings such as the October Wine Tasting and the annual spring Not Just Desserts event. Membership is open to parents, students, teachers and other interested citizens.is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to enriching, enhancing and supporting Sudbury’s public schools, from kindergarten through High School.

How does SERF help our schools?

Sudbury is fortunate to have teachers, parents and others in our community committed to sharing their skills, talents, time and services to support Sudbury schools. SERF funding enables these individuals, working alone or collaborating with colleagues, to shape innovative ideas into unique classroom projects or new curriculum initiatives that directly enrich children’s lives. Most of these projects would not be possible without SERF funding. At the same time, The Sudbury Education Resource Fund, Inc. grants recognize and motivate the dedicated people who seek them.
